Trailer

Final Cut: Poster

Production of Logos/Editing Logos into the trailer

After creating my logos, I wish to animate them in order to make them look more aesthetically pleasing, I achieved this through the method of keyframing.

For the GS Productions logo, i made the image increase in side by adding to keyframes on the scale are 0 and 100, this achieved the zooming in effect that I had wanted.

For the Infinity productions logo, i used the same keyframing method but rotated the logo 360 degrees.

I also imported sound into the logos, to make them resemble those of a professional practice. The first logo has its own unique sound, and the second logo fades into the soundtrack, which i feel is quite original.

Rough Cut With Sound

Presented below is my Rough Cut of my Teaser Trailer including sound.

Sound Update

Presented below is my edited soundtrack which I am going to use in my teaser Trailer, I feel that it represents the horror genre well, with the haunting theme of the piano at the beginning fading into the soundtrack which creates a feeling of tension and suspense which is then further supported by the heightened diegetic sound of a heart beat.

Shooting Schedule

I aim to get all of my footage filmed as quickly as possible so that I have more time to edit it, presented below is my planned schedule that both myself and my actors have agreed to film on the following days:

  • November 7th
  • November 9th
  • And if any additional footage needs to either be included or reshot, we have agreed that November 11th will be an extra shooting day.

Editing Process

One of the ways in which I have edited my post production footage for my trailer is with the use of Final Cut, this included animating inter titles like so:

This was achieved by:
Using the method of Keyframing in which I selected a scale tool, placed a "diamond" on each second I wanted editing then added the values 100 and 0 this created the effect of the inter title gradually fading out.

NB - ACTUAL VIDEO FINISHES AT 0.06 NOT 1.45

I have also looked into the use of Filters final cut provides, this effect is a Ripple filter which I may now consider using in my final trailer, as I feel the feeling of disorientation it provides, relates to the confused mind of the protagonist and can be combined well with the feelings of tension and horror that the soundtrack also provides.

Video Update - Filming Progress

Photoshoot Plan

The image above is a photoshoot flat plan for my photoshoot in the studio. This is a three point lighting set up, with the model positioned in the centre. This would allow the light to reflect without causing a shadow when taking the photo. I aim to take a photo of my model in medium close up, with eyeline match with the use of the rule of thirds, however at the same time her eyes will be covered, but the audience will get the feeling that her eyes are still addressing them.

Video Update - Potential Actors

Call Sheets

Presented below are the call sheets for my actors which states which scenes they will be featured in.

Costume and Prop Research for Magazine

This is the image in which I am going to use for my magazine, I am using the same costume that the antagonist had worn in the teaser trailer in order to ensure continuity between the two products, thus allowing the audience to gain a further understanding of the antagonist featured in the film. I intend however in manipulating the image in order for my magazine to 'stand out' from the others if it was to be placed on shop shelves.

Location Research for Poster

Below are some of the potential locations I may use for my Poster:

I want to have a Poster which is shot from the Antagonists point of view, as in it is them looking on. This is in order to create an element of mystery but to also convey themes of isolation and loneliness. Although this wont give away the plot of the theme, through photomanipulation of desaturating the images, and adding black white and red text.. The audience will therefore identify that this film has dark themes and could therefore be a horror film. I am heavily relying on the title and sell lines to give away some clues about the plot, which is a big risk to take but I am confident in pulling it off.

Secondary Audience Research - Summary

After conducting Secondary Audience Research, it has influenced me in the following ways:
  • My Horror Products will contain elements of Social Realism
  • The characters will be of a similar age so my audience can relate to them
  • Thus the film will have an Age 15 rating
  • I need to ensure that all my products relate to what my target audience demand.
